Boston: Discover History, Discover Art!

More than the skyscrapers and the awe-inspiring attractions, Boston is known for its history. Being at the center of America's colonial history -- from the tea party to the revolutionary war -- most of its sights double as tourist spots and historical attractions. The city itself is not hard to navigate, given that attractions are not far from each other. In fact, you can discover the city by foot or by train. Easy access to all the tourist attractions will keep you on the go, up and running to discover all that Boston has to offer!

The Freedom Trail, a three-mile trail leading to the city's historic monuments and sites, should be at the top of your to-visit list. You will pass along 16 of these monuments, with brochures to take from each station. Definitely a good way to get you a dose of endorphins from all the walking, as well as a much needed review on the country's history. The Freedom Trail starts with the city's public garden and the country's oldest park -- the Boston Common and Public Garden Swan Boats. Not a bad way to start a tour, especially if you and your companions are up for something more quiet and romantic. For those who love sports and are baseball fans, the Fenway Park climbs the top of the list. Fenway Park is the city's most beloved ballpark, and is home to the Boston Red Sox.

The city is also an intellectual and art hub, housing educational institutions and several museums. Of course, there is Harvard University, the oldest institution of higher learning and still one of the most prestigious universities in the entire country. Inside, visitors can find what is designated as the Harvard square, a space for visitors filled with shops, bookstores, and food! Adjoining it is the Harvard Art museums, with art collections spanning works from the early Renaissance period. Apart from this, there is also the Museum of Fine Arts which hosts several sculptures and paintings -- some from centuries ago while others are more contemporary. If you need more, the city can give you more to quench your artistic curiosity. You can also visit the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum which likewise displays priceless collections of paintings, furniture, decorative art, books, and others.

Whether you are a romantic, an adventurist, an intellectual, an artist, or even just a curious individual -- whatever kind of tourist you are, you will definitely find your match in this beautiful, historically-rich and balanced city.
